Congratulations on being a concerned citizen who wants to participate in our elections – it’s important!  There are several non-partisan organizations that can help you ensure that you’re ready to vote, depending on what sort of help you need.

Voter ID:

North Carolina’s rules regarding voter ID are in flux and are very confusing. If you need to get an ID, whether to vote or for some other reason, VoteRiders is available to provide free assistance! Here are the ways you can reach VoteRiders:

If you want information on voter ID rules, go to their website: voteriders.org:

Voter Registration:

North Carolina has on-line voter registration for DMV customers (you must have a NC driver’s license or NC DMV-issued ID): https://www.ncdot.gov/dmv/offices-services/online/Pages/voter-registration-application.aspx

If you have questions or need help getting registered to vote, the League of Women Voters of Charlotte Mecklenburg has been encouraging informed and active participation in government for more than 100 years! Here are ways you can reach them: https://my.lwv.org/north-carolina-state/charlotte-mecklenburg

Absentee/Mail-In Ballots:

Due to the uncertainties and concerns created by the COVID-19 pandemic, voters are encouraged to request an absentee or “mail-in” ballot NOW for the November election. Any registered voter can request and receive a mail-in ballot – no excuse is needed. To request an absentee ballot, click here. Be sure to include all the required information, and don’t forget to sign and date the form on the bottom. The deadline turn in your absentee request form is Tuesday, October 27 (it must be at your county Board of Elections office by this date).

If you have questions or need help with any voting issues, contact VoteRiders or the League of Women Voters Charlotte Mecklenburg, or Vote411.org.
