Black Maternal Health Awareness

Black women are up to four times more likely to die from pregnancy than white women in the United States. In some parts of the country, such as New York and Georgia, the rate is even higher.

Black Mamas Matter Alliance is a Black women-led cross-sectoral alliance. They center Black mamas to advocate, drive research, build power, and shift culture for Black maternal health, rights, and justice.

SisterSong is a Southern based, national membership organization whose purpose is to build an effective network of individuals and organizations to improve institutional policies and systems that impact the reproductive lives of marginalized communities.

On April 19, 2019, Congresswomen Adams and Underwood launched the Black Maternal Health Caucus to improve black maternal health outcomes.
